News of the death of Legend of the Seeker was premature.
A source close to the show tells TheTorchOnline.com that, contrary to the implication of some previous media reports, the show is definitely not canceled, the studio is interested in bringing it back for a third season, and that they’re actively exploring options to make that happen.
Legend of the Seeker is produced by ABC Studios, but is syndicated, offered to different media markets on a station-by-station basis. Last week, the Tribune Company, which owns 35% of the affiliates that currently air the show in the U.S., confirmed that their stations would not air a third season of the show.Since Tribune makes up such a large percentage of the total number of affiliates that air Legend of the Seeker, including some major markets, this prompted a flurry of online speculation that the show itself would likely be canceled.
The public announcement by Tribune came in response to a fan-generated letter-writing campaign seeking to improve the show’s third season prospects. The company answered several of those letters with the news that their affiliates would not be carrying the show next year; several sources have since confirmed that news.
But TheTorchOnline.com’s source indicated that it is still too early in the year for the studio itself to have made a decision on the show and emphasized that they have definitely not given up and will seek to replace the Tribune affiliates.Because renewal of a syndicated show involves signing up many different affiliates, last year’s “official” renewal announcement of Legend of the Seeker did not happen until well into spring.
The show’s ratings have been relatively strong this season, making a pick-up by competing Tribune stations a definite possibility. The source also indicated that the producers of the show appreciate the passion and commitment of the fans.

AT: So there’s this little grassroots movement to get the show renewed for a third season by fans. They’re writing letters in to their local stations and to Disney. I don’t know that all shows have that kind of support. Could you talk a little bit about your fan base?
Ken Biller: I love it! My writers spend a little bit more time tapping into all that stuff than I do, but yes, there are some really great fan sites and we‘ve gotten incredible fan feedback. The show is not so easy for some people to find in some markets, but people are finding it and watching it on Hulu and watching it on iTunes and hopefully watching it on broadcast where it looks the best and actually we’ve had a little bit of growth in our audience over last season which is remarkable given the limitations of some of our distribution, but we’re in some 130 countries around the world and we’ve got a great international audience. So I’m very happy to hear that the fans are pushing to get the show renewed for a third season, which is something I’m very hopeful about.
AT: Do know when that decision might happen?
Ken Biller: Probably not for a little while, I think it’s too early, but I do know that the studio would very much like to see it continue. I’ve been busy writing the season finale with Stephen Tolkin and in the writer’s room we’ve been coming up with all sorts of tantalizing story lines for season three.

A new photoshoot Bridget did recently was added to the gallery. You might recognizing it from her Twitter account. It’s her userpic.
P.S. I heart her dress. Does anybody know who’s dress that is and where I can get my own?

TVStar: The first-ever scene in Legend of the Seeker shows you riding a horse through a beautiful countryside, chased by ugly D’Harans. I think it drew a lot of people into the show. When you shot it, did you know that scene was, in a sense, going to introduce the show and could possibly make or break it? How much pressure did you feel shooting that scene? (darkbahamut88)
Bridget: Maybe it was a bit daunting. I knew that it was the first time the audience would meet Kahlan…meet MY Kahlan. The script said, “a fierce warrior of stunning beauty and great courage.” Needless to say, I had fallen in love with her, and I wanted to do her right. Do her justice. But in the last moment, I had to let that go. (I had to) concentrate on getting to the boundary and finding (Richard) and putting the book in his hands…and cantering in a corset for the first time and not falling on my bum.
TVStar: If you wandered in to the Valley of Perdition, what might you see as being your worst nightmares and fears coming to life? And what do you think Kahlan would see? (drummergirl)
Bridget: I think Kahlan’s worst fears wouldn’t be that far off from what was happening to Richard (Craig Horner) in “Perdition.” Oh, I can’t imagine poor Kahlan seeing Richard with a child and a wife he loves. Heartbreaking!
TVStar: Even though so many of us adore the show, there are some fans of the book series who complain that the show is far too different. What’s your take on that? (pristinelyungifted)
Bridget: I can understand and sympathize. “Eat, Pray, Love” was such a special book to me when I read it, and I’m a little scared to see the film for fear that it would change my memories of the book that I cherish so much. But on the other hand, I so badly want to relive those moments and be inside them and the film will let me do that. Books are a private, imaginative, and personal experience, where television is a collaborative and shared experience. So I suppose a book is never going to be exactly the same as the memory.

Good news, guys! E! News is reporting that LotS WILL mostly be returning!!!! Now, I don’t know about you, but I trust E! News more then that other source. This just made my day
Great news, Legend of the Seeker fans! You may have heard rumors that your show had been canceled, but we just talked with an inside source close to the show, and well, the rumors are just not true.
Yes, the Tribune Station Group is dropping Legend of the Seeker in a lot of markets, but that’s not the end of the road for Richard (Craig Horner), Kahlan (Bridget Regan) and Cara (Tabrett Bethell). Here’s the good news that we’ve heard about the future of our favorite cult-hit fantasy series:
Insiders tell us that ABC Studios, which produces Legend of the Seeker, is not letting Tribune’s decision be a show killer. We’re told that ABC has every desire to bring the show back for a third season and studio bosses are “exploring their options” for where and how to air a potential third season.
Long story short, if the ax is falling on LOTS, it’ll be weeks and months before we know for sure, but Tribune’s decision is not a death knell. So don’t panic, kiddos, and how about we channel all that nervous energy into some serious fan activism?

So lately I’ve been hearing a lot of different stories on whether or not LotS will be renewed for a third season. I was starting to get nervous, so I did a bit of research. NOTHING has been confirmed! I repeat, as of now, there is no official word on if LotS will be renewed or not. Please do not read too far into the rumors going around and do continue to write to save the Seeker! Her Blue Eyes and LegendOfTheSeeker.org are still running their “Save the Seeker” campaigns. I urge all fans to make sure ABC knows how much you love LotS. Together we can do a heck of a lot! Just think of “Jericho”! “Jericho” fans were able to keep to show going! So, all you LotS fans be annoyingly persistent and lets get us a third season!
~Michaella
P.S. I will keep you all updated on the status of LotS’s third season.
